Capitalism is undergoing a renewal, particularly following the global economic recession, with big questions emerging about the purpose and legitimacy of capitalism and business in society. Of the numerous ‘capitalism upgrades’ that exist (moral capitalism, sustainable capitalism and ethical capitalism to name a few), Conscious Capitalism provides a robust and joined up framework for thinking about business differently. It shares with all renewed forms of capitalism a focus on the purpose of a business over and above making a profit, and a responsible interest in all its stakeholders with the aim of creating mutual benefit for all. This session explores the four foundational principles of Conscious Capitalism with examples of how these can be applied to everyday business and sparking conversations about how these might be used in the participants’ own organisations.
We cover the working principles with varied examples to illustrate them; however, the real value of this session lies in the discussion between participants around their challenges, ideas and successes in bringing these principles to life in their own organisations. We believe the value of the material lies in making it practical and so participants will enjoy a variety of conversations and interactions between each other and with the facilitators who have been working with this material for the past four years.
Thought-provoking, mindset-shifting and inspirational are some of the outcomes we aim to achieve in this session. Gatherings of people talking about Conscious Capitalism tend to be uplifting, positive and optimistic, with a real sense of discovering like minds in the choppy seas of business and society. In addition to the thought leadership that this event offers, participants can expect to come away with deepened insights, questions to ponder, ideas and answers, and a stronger network.
